New York Fashion Week

First Egypt Day coincides with one of the biggest fashion events of the year – New York Fashion Week. Top designers Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Tracy Reese, Badgley Mischka and Erin Fetherston are some of the designers revealing their Autumn collections.

Bryant Park (42nd and Sixth), an 8-acre park is converted to a temporary fashion arena with huge, air-conditioned tents for the designers to show their collections.

The shows are attended by journalists, buyers, celebrities and society movers and shakers. The fashion shows are often entertaining, accompanied by loud, mood-setting music and changing lighting.

At any one time there are more than 50 theatre shows playing on Broadway and nearby. Some of the most popular are:

 

Barefoot in the Park

The revival of Neil Simon's 1963 play is being performed a the Cort Theatre, starring Amanda Peet and Patrick Wilson, with costumes by Isaac Mizrahi.

Beauty and the Beast

This Disney show is being performed at Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
